You Are Welcome Here

You are welcome here!

We gather for worship on Sunday mornings at 8:00a.m. and 10:30a.m. during Sept-May. We also have Wednesday evening worship at 6:30p.m. through Lent (March 29th). Our Sunday 8:00a.m. worship service is live-streamed on our Facebook and YouTube pages. During the summer, we adjust our worship schedule and just have one worship service at 9:00a.m. from Memorial Day through Labor Day (this service is in-person and live-streamed.)

Click to view the welcome video from Pastor Mark Schlenker and learn a little more about St. Peter

St. Peter Lutheran Church is a community of believers called as children of God, and claimed by the Holy Spirit, gathered together to build each other up to use and grow our gifts in the multitude of ministries we share – and are sent out to serve the greater church, our community, and our world by using those gifts and ministries to share God’s love as the united people of God.

We are situated on the southwest entrance to Grimes, Iowa along James Street. Much like the young and growing community of Grimes, at St. Peter Lutheran Church you will find many young families. Grimes is the 13th fastest growing community in Iowa, has an unusually low median age of 32.9 (2015 census), and is known for its excellent schools. Much like Grimes, St. Peter benefits from both the energy and vitality of the influx of young families and the wisdom, care, and experience of our long-time members. At St. Peter you will find members of all ages and backgrounds welcoming, leading, and guiding as we move into the future together.

We are a church of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (www.elca.org). ELCA Teachings, Beliefs, Social Statements, Social Messages are all available from the ELCA website to find out more about the church.

To learn more about being a part of St. Peter, you can view a list of Frequently Asked Questions and meet our staff and facilities on our About Us page. We look forward to getting to know you as we are GATHERED to GROW and SENT to SERVE! Most importantly, we want to get to know YOU!

What to expect when you arrive

You will likely enter through the main doors at the U drop off. As you enter, the coat racks are to your left around the corner. The church office is at the end of the hall on your left. Fellowship Hall is to your right, and the entrance to our Sanctuary/Worship Space is on the south end of the Fellowship Hall. As you enter Fellowship Hall our ushers will greet you and give you a worship bulletin. As you enter the worship space you are encouraged to choose your own seat. Don’t hesitate to ask someone for help!

We offer an Inquiry Class throughout the year for those wishing to learn more about the teachings of the church. If you are interested in becoming a member, please contact the church office. Inquiry Classes are offered approximately twice each year. After participating in an Inquiry Class, New Members are welcomed during worship with a reception following worship.
