Time and Talent Sheet Descriptions

Can you help serve?  Please let us know!

  • Scripture Reader – reads the first and second scripture lessons for the day during our worship service.  Copies of the “Celebrate” scripture readings are available for readers to pick up ahead of time in a basket in the fellowship hall.
  • Greeters – the greeters are present 20 minutes before the service begins to greet all worshippers who enter the front doors.
  • Ushers – ushers are the people who help make the service flow.  Ushers hand out bulletins/worship folders, help with seating if needed, collect the offering, direct people up for communion when offered, and pick up following the service.  A complete checklist of duties is available on the usher’s table in the fellowship hall.
  • Assisting Minister – assist pastor with liturgy during worship.
  • Worship Teller – collects and tallies the offering for the day.  Tellers are trained each year and they work on a 3-person team one Sunday a month.
  • Nursery Coordinator – person(s) who are responsible for lining up the nursery volunteers each month for services and adult class times.  They are in charge of keeping the nursery in order.
  • Nursery Volunteer – would be available to volunteer in the church nursery on a periodic basis.
  • Drama Participant – a person who enjoys taking part in dramas for Lent, Holy Week, or other special occasions.
  • Communion Preparer – would be willing to set up the communion ware for upcoming services including filling the glasses and setting out communion wafers.  Depending on the number of volunteers, you may help out once or twice a year.
  • Banner Ministry – enjoys making banners or would be willing to hang up seasonal banners in the sanctuary.
  • Adult Choir – join the choir that provides special music for our worship services.  Rehearsals are on Wednesday evenings at 7:00pm (September – May).
  • Tone Chime Choir Director – Tone chimes are like a bell choir.  The director would pick out music and direct choir participants to provide special music for our festival services.
  • Tone Chime Choir Participant – a participant in the bell choir.  Would play one or two musical notes for a song.
  • Parenting and Marriage ministry leaders - would help people build strong families and marriages by discovering Jesus' power in everyday ways.
  • Sunday School – weekly Sunday bible lesson for 3 year olds through high school running from the week after Labor Day through the weekend before Memorial Day (excluding Holidays) from 9:15AM to 10:15AM.   (This also includes an adult bible study session.)
  • Vacation Bible School – A week long bible study for ages 3 year olds through 6th grade.   Usually occurs in June or July, Sunday through Thursday.
  • Christmas Program – A Christmas celebration of the birth of Jesus consisting of a musical skit for 3 year olds through 6th grade.   Usually occurs in mid December.
  • Youth Group – Applies to Jr. High and High School students with weekly activities running from the week after Labor Day through the weekend before Memorial Day (excluding Holidays).
  • Bible Study – miscellaneous opportunities for adults to enhance knowledge and understanding of the bible and grow in faith.  Run from the week after Labor Day through the weekend before Memorial Day (excluding Holidays).
  • Cradle Roll Coordinator - sends packets of information/education to all children who are baptized but haven't started Sunday school.  It's a way of keeping these kids and parents connected to the church until they start Sunday School.
  • Food Pantry Coordinator  - communicates to church members what food items are needed, any special food pantry drive events, and delivers items to the food pantry.
  • Meals from the Heartland contact person - this person conveys communication between the congregation and the Meals from the Heartland organization, whose information can be found at www.mealsfromtheheartland.org.
  • Carmen’s Supper Club – help serve at downtown shelter once monthly
  • Crop Walk – annual fall walk for hunger.
  • New Member Sponsor – help to support new members before and after joining the church.
  • Stewardship Drive Volunteer – fall campaign to encourage time, talent, and financial stewardship.
  • Fall Outreach Organizing Team - St. Peter's fall outreach is a service project which invites the entire congregation to scatter throughout the community helping residents with fall projects they might not be able to do themselves, like raking leaves, etc.  The organizing team solicits the community for projects, then organizes the congregation into teams to complete those projects.  Finally, the team also organizes a potluck for all who took part.
