This fall we enjoyed the four-week “Live Simply” Bible Study that went along with the Stewardship Drive theme, and we just finished discussing “Busyness” for two Sunday classes.  We had lively discussion about the challenges of living in our materialistic society.  Too much “stuff” can also leave too little room for God.  We learned “Busyness is not a Spiritual Gift”.  Living a simple Christian life is about figuring out what is really important . . . and it’s not “stuff”.  Our hearts want to slow down and smell the roses.  We need less possessions and less activities.  Relationships are important.   We want a life that revolves around loving Christ.  We need to live humbly before God and keep an eternal focus.  Breaking old patterns is hard, but God reminds us we can do all things through Christ who gives us strength.

In anticipation of the 500th Anniversary of The Reformation in 2017, we will watch and discuss the movie “Luther” in four parts, beginning on Sunday, October 30 and concluding on November 20.  There is a lot of rich information about Martin Luther and The Reformation in this movie.  On November 27, we will begin a four-part Advent Devotional Bible Study.  Bring your cup of coffee and join us in the Library at 9:20 a.m.
